Beauty, Brains + the Bible Issue 03: Set It Right
One question we often ask brides after we’ve completed the invitation suite design and are ready to dive into day-of items is this: What does your event design entail? This typically leads to further questions, diving into the details: What colors are your linens? Floral? Flatware? What size are your chargers? What style of glassware are you using? What chairs have you selected? Are salads being pre-set? What napkin fold did you choose? You wouldn’t think that our job requires so much knowledge of the decor, but when creating any design element involved in your tablescape, it’s essential that we are armed with as much information as possible.
A menu, place card, and table number can beautifully accent your floral arrangement, linen, and flatware. Connecting us with your planner, florist, rental/decor company, and even your caterer can streamline the communication process so that you’re not playing the middleman between all of your vendors. Doing this allows us to coordinate with your creative team so that we can work collaboratively to ensure your event design is as professional and breathtaking as possible. We can turn the colors of your florals and linens into a palette for your day-of pieces, and use the metal you’ve chosen for your flatware as a foil on those items. Glassware can even play a role in speaking to the feel of your wedding – whether it is traditionally elegant or rustic-chic.
Knowing whether salads are pre-set or not, and what your napkin fold will be, plays a large role in our menu design. We love going above and beyond to incorporate the menu and place card into your table display – take a look at one of our vision boards to see a design we created early this year. Interactive menus are one of our favorite designs to present! We always come on-site to place menus, place cards, escort card, and signage. We will drop cocktail napkins at the bar and place the seating chart at the entrance of your reception. We work with your vendors on location as well to ensure that we’re as helpful and efficient as possible at setup. This has led us to create beautiful relationships with Kansas City’s event professionals over the eleven years that we’ve been in business.
There are so many last minute design details that you may not even consider until you are asked by your florist, planner, venue coordinator, or us, but these all play a role in the design of your event and matter to almost every member of your creative team. Considering these questions prior to our day-of design meeting is so very helpful in allowing us to be as prepared as possible when we present vision boards to you for the pieces we are creating. Since everything that we produce is custom, we can work with any design style to ensure that all of your bases are covered.
